this is a equation:
ax²+bx+c=0

If you want the number of roots in any equation:
you only have to do this operation.
b²-4ac

if b²-4ac>0 you have two roots.
if b²-4ac=0 you have one root
if b²-4a<0  you don´t have any real root.


in this case:
x²+2x+3=0
b²-4ac=2²-4(1)(3)=4-12=-8<0  ; then you don´t have any real root.
